The United Illuminating Company (UI) is a regulated operating electric public utility providing electricity and energy-related services in the Greater New Haven and Greater Bridgeport areas of southwestern Connecticut. UI is a regional purchaser, distributor and seller of electricity for residential, commercial and industrial purposes in a service area of about 335 square miles. Retail and trade service centers, as well as large and small industries producing a wide variety of products, including helicopters and other transportation equipment, electrical equipment, chemicals and pharmaceuticals are located within this territory.

UI has always been dedicated to the communities it serves. That's why the company provides more than electricity. In addition to the countless volunteer hours donated by employees, UI spearheads conservation efforts, encourages economic growth, and assists area businesses and funds important non-profit organizations through established and often one-of-a-kind programs focused on developing the local workforce, fostering economic development and improving the quality of life in Connecticut.
