Looking back over the last five years, it is clear that many social, political and economic events have had a significant impact on how corporate citizenship is defined and played out inside corporations. The social contract between companies and their key stakeholders has shifted. As this shift has occurred, The Center has been at the center of understanding the various dimensions of corporate citizenship vision, value, strategy, operations and execution, always with the goal of helping companies build organizational capacity to deliver on these various dimensions.
This year, more than ever, stakeholders are raising questions about the impact of corporate citizenship. How is it defined? By whom? And is it a key value driver for business success?
If Corporate Citizenship is the Answer, What is the Question? The theme for this year's conference — If Corporate Citizenship is the Answer, What is the Question? — is a provocative approach to taking stock of the current state of corporate citizenship. What are the key underlying beliefs about the role of corporate citizenship and, more broadly, the role of business in society?
It is not enough to provide answers. It is equally important to be sure the right questions are being asked.
This year all sessions will begin by framing a question, and will be built around the ensuing dialogue with participants. We will take a hard look at the key questions that are either accelerating or, in some cases, inhibiting progress on the corporate citizenship front.
Plan now to attend The Center's 2006 International Corporate Citizenship Conference, which will take place on March 26-28 at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
