05-06 Executive Education Schedule Announced

We are pleased to announce our 2005-2006 Executive Education schedule. Our course lineup consists of interrelated but stand-alone courses that offer an integrated approach to corporate community involvement and corporate citizenship. Participants earn credits for each course, which can lead to earning a Certificate in Corporate Community Involvement – the only certificate program in the field. Make this the year you complete your Certificate!

Open Enrollment Programs

Institute on Corporate Community Involvement (2.5 days, 4 credits)
Learn a step-by-step strategic planning framework for community involvement appropriate for both experienced managers and newcomers to the field.  Key points of focus include: building relationships of trust with community stakeholders; identifying community issues, needs and expectations; aligning program responses with business objectives; and securing management support and buy-in.

Corporate-Community Partnerships: What Makes Them Work, Why They Fail (2.5 days, 3 credits)
Learn how to identify and create partnerships that support the company’s strategic business goals while meeting important community needs and expectations.  Key points of focus include: understanding challenges and opportunities associated with different partnership models; identifying appropriate partners and developing a shared vision; establishing ground rules and negotiating differences; and creating metrics for success.

Evaluation & Measurement (2.5 days, 3 credits)
Learn how to design and conduct evaluations that can prove the value of community involvement and drive continuous improvement.  Key points of focus include: understanding and conducting process, outcome and impact evaluations; and linking community involvement outcomes to key business issues (e.g. reputation management,  sales, employee retention, etc.).

NEW! Stakeholder Engagement: Building Trust Through Communication (2.5 days, 3 credits)
Learn how to proactively engage key stakeholders and to communicate effectively in order to build trust, expand and protect your license to operate, minimize unproductive conflict, and to reinforce your position as a valued neighbor of choice.  Key points of focus include: understanding the new communication context; creating effective communication strategies for the community, local government, the media and employees; and organizing internal processes and resources to facilitate effective communication.

Building Effective Employee Volunteer Programs (2.5 days, 3 credits)
Learn how to structure a successful volunteer program that supports your business strategy as well as employee and community interests.  Key points of focus include: trends and current practices in employee volunteer programs; a step-by-step program planning model; communicating about your program to employees; and measuring and evaluating program outcomes.

Diffuse Anger, Build Trust: Communicating with Key Publics (2.5 days, 3 credits)
Practical training in the face-to-face communication skills and techniques needed to work effectively in situations of low trust and high concern. Key points of focus include: b
arriers to effective communication; dealing with a hostile audience; and strategies for voluntary and mandated public meetings.

Strategic Philanthropy (2.5 days, 3 credits)
Learn how to design a strategic contributions program that has a bottom-line impact on the company and is integrated into your overall community involvement strategy.  Key points of focus include: developing corporate contributions mission statements and guidelines; giving priorities that meet community needs and support the company’s business goals and strategies; developing efficient and effective grants management processes; and measuring and evaluating program outcomes.

Communicating and Branding Your Corporate Citizenship (2.5 days, 3 credits)
Learn how to develop a corporate citizenship brand that is integrated and aligned with your corporate brand.  Key points of focus include: understanding brand; branding corporate citizenship within you organization; consistently communicating brand to internal and external audiences; building cross-functional teams around your branding and communications plan.

Identifying, Adapting and Adopting Best Practices in Corporate Community Involvement (2.5 days, 3 credits)
Learn what leading organizations are doing in corporate community involvement, and how to leverage the power of effective benchmarking to continuously improve your community involvement practices and programs.  Key points of focus include: learning the benchmarking process; designing and conducting benchmarking surveys and interviews; analyzing findings to develop a matrix of best practices; and selling your recommendations to management
