Marketing group creates new committee on social responsibility

April 1, 2005

The Direct Marketing Association, a leading trade association for businesses and organizations interested in direct, interactive, and database marketing, has announced it will create a new Board-level committee to focus on corporate social responsibility issues. The committee will help educate and advocate for socially responsible practices, with an initial focus on the environment and human rights, reports the association.

“Instituting a standing Board-level committee elevates the importance of this work with all of our members,” said John A. Greco, Jr., president & CEO, The DMA.

Initially, the DMA’s Committee on Social Responsibility will focus on:

  • continuing to encourage the establishment of environmentally-responsible marketing and procurement policies
  • developing environmentally-responsible best practices
  • educating and training on a wide range of environmental topics through conferences, seminars, publications and The DMA’s Web site
  • increasing the awareness among DMA members of developments likely to affect their organizations and the industry relative to environmental issues

The DMA currently is recruiting members to sit on this committee.
