Welcome New Members

December 2007

This month The Center welcomes the following new members:

Jackson Electric Membership Corporation
Jackson Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) is the second largest electric cooperative in the United States, serving more than 200,000 customers in metro-Atlanta and northeast Georgia through a distribution network of 80 substations and more than 13,000 miles of energized line, maintained by 450 employees. In the past 12 months, Jackson EMC provided nearly 5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity to its customers, setting a new record in August of 1,217 megawatts peak demand – enough electricity to light 12 million 100-watt bulbs. The cooperative is very active in the community, sponsoring community activities, participating in local civic and business organizations, and providing college scholarships and youth programs. Its employees contribute a great deal of time in local communities. And, through Jackson EMC’s Operation Round Up program, which rounds participants’ electric bills up to the next dollar amount, the cooperative’s customers have put nearly $2 million back into their communities since October 2005 through the Jackson EMC Foundation.
