Exelon Corporation is one of the nation’s largest electric utilities with approximately 5.2 million customers and more than $15 billion in annual revenues
Exelon’s legal department has partnered with a variety of organizations on pro bono projects such as the Center for Disability and Elder Law in Chicago, the Child Advocate Support Center in Philadelphia, Chicago-based Family Rescue Inc., the Homeless Advocacy Project in Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, The Nature Conservancy, the Midwest Immigrant & Human Rights Center, and Spanish Coalition for Jobs. Exelon attorneys also participated in the Lawyers in the Classroom Project sponsored by the Constitutional Rights Foundation in Chicago. Over the course of the 2005-2006 academic year, Exelon attorneys visited Chicago Public Schools classrooms at least three times during the year and engaged in exercises that focused on constitutional rights and issues.
As a part of Exelon’s overall diversity efforts, its legal department has implemented a AAA Diversity Program, which focuses on three components: awareness, action and assessment. The program promotes the utilization of diverse staff by minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) law firms and non-MWBE firms. As part of the program, Exelon’s legal department encourages its legal service providers to build teams of outstanding lawyers from diverse backgrounds for staffing Exelon work. The company measures each firm’s progress through reports that outline diversity demographic data.
