November 2006
Four new executive education courses are set to debut in 2007. These courses mark the beginning of important changes to The Center's executive education program, including the introduction of a new Certificate in Corporate Citizenship. (See Changes in Store for Center's Executive Education Program in this month's newsletter.)
Two of the new courses are being introduced are part of the Certificate Program in Corporate Citizenship. They are:
The Institute on Corporate Citizenship (Jan 17-19; San Antonio) This course will be a critical entry point for both the Certificate in Corporate Citizenship and the Certificate Corporate Community Involvement. It addresses the changing context for corporate citizenship in North America and globally, and introduces participants to a strategic framework for managing and understanding corporate citizenship within the company.
Creating a Comprehensive Corporate Citizenship Strategy (March 28-30, San Francisco) This course drills into the core dimensions of corporate citizenship and addresses how companies can create an integrated platform for both managing the business responsibly and addressing broader social issues extrinsic to the firm. It will focus on stakeholder engagement, the emerging world of voluntary codes and standards, and how to link corporate citizenship into existing company performance management systems.
Two additional new courses are being introduced as part of the Certificate in Corporate Community Involvement. These courses, which are follow-ups to Building an Effective Strategic Philanthropy Program and Building an Effective Employee Volunteer Program, are:
Enhancing and Improving Your Strategic Philanthropy Program (January 17-19, 2007; San Antonio) Enhancing and Improving Your Employee Volunteer Program (April 25-27, 2007; Boston)
These new innovative programs go beyond tools and how-to's to provide participants with opportunities to discuss, in a real-time practical way, emerging issues in either philanthropy or volunteer management. The programs feature full-class discussions and table work as well as two executive education innovations: • A “speed-learning” exercise in which participants engage in rapid one-on-one exchanges to learn as much as they can from one another in short periods of time. • A process called “collaborative solutioneering,” in which participants present specific challenges or problems to the group and get concrete proposed solutions.
