Over the last 20 years, The Center has periodically surveyed professionals in the field to gain salary and job description information, as well as learn about their impressions of current trends.
In recent years, we've seen that the community involvement role has expanded in many companies, and now encompasses a larger corporate citizenship agenda that extends across a range of functional and business lines and has become more integral to the core business operations.
The 2006 Profile of the Profession is a testament to the growth and changing nature of that role. This year, participants were asked to define their role in the corporation as either Community Involvement (one dimension of corporate citizenship that focuses on the company’s relations with its communities through activities such as contributions, philanthropy, and community relations) or Corporate Citizenship (working on the business strategy that shapes the values underpinning a company's mission and the choices made each day by its executives, managers, and employees as they engage with society).
In the fall of 2005, The Center received 748 responses to this survey; one-third (33%) defined their role as Corporate Citizenship, two-thirds (66%) as Community Involvement. One of the main areas of interest for the survey has traditionally been the salary information. Below is the salary survey information from the 2006 Profile of the Profession.
